Reddit Always Sunny Isnt as Funny Anymore

Opinions on Always Sunny season 15?

Just started the newest one, 3 episodes deep, and it's awful imo. This show has a very special place in my heart, it's my gf's favorite show, and it's just a total shocker how lame these episodes have been. The gang feels tired, the pace is off.

I want to watch it til the end, but it's pretty disheartening. Any other, or similar takes? Would love to hear some opinions.

You are not alone my friend. It feels like a watered down version of Sunny. I have seen every episode and was so excited for the new season but I honestly have probably only gotten 2 laughs out of this season. The skate rink episode was awful. Lethal weapon 7 just made me go wtf. The other 2 are just as forgettable. I absolutely love this show. I really feel like they were still going even in season 14. The zoo episode with the texts was brilliant and the season 13 episode Charlie Home Alone has to be one of my all time favs but this season… Just no… I think the climate we are in with all this cancel culture has tamed the gang, and it sucks!

Couldnt put it better myself. Agree 100%. Cancel Culture and the PC/wokeness has infected the gang. That should be their new episode. The Gang Gets Infected lol. Cant believe they sold out. Shouldve just went out while they still had balls. Now it just feels soooo watered down its brutal. Just not the same show anymore unfortunately.

Yep. I've said it on the IASIP sub and got downvoted. It's so obvious that's what's going on. But this entire site is one big left facing circle jerk and if you ever bring that up you get silenced or banned. I'm not right leaning, but it's scary to think that these sites have so much power to make people think and feel what they want. And not it's killing my favorite show. I hate this.

So funny where opinions differ. I thought season 14 was great but I despised the zoo episode and thought it was one of the worse episodes they've ever made. But I don't judge others if they enjoyed it and I am in fact glad that the episode did strike some of the audience favorably.

I definitely notice how season 15 feels different. The production reminds me more of a british sitcom, and that meshes with the shorter season as well. But I'm still enjoying myself.

💯 agree with you but people on here will downvote us bc they see anybody who doesnt like the new seasons as being "anti-woke" or "anti-PC" lol. Always Sunny is and has always been one of my favorite shows. Ive seen every episode more times than i can count. Its a top 5 all time comedy show for me and one of my personal comfort shows. Having said that, the last few seasons have CLEARLY not been as good as the first 12 or so and this season so far has been borderline unwatchable. Im only 2 episodes in so far and i am going to watch the entire season but man its been a huge letdown so far. I havent laughed one time yet. This show has always been anti PC and now theyve done a complete 180 and sold out and its just not working for me. I get that they make fun of the PC bullshit and make jokes out of the issues but theyre still changing their show to obey the new PC woke guidelines lol. This show is not meant to be written this way and it just feels off. It just doesnt feel like im watching Always Sunny from seasons 1-12ish. It feels like im watching a watered down, softened, woke/PC version of Always Sunny where they just force social issues into the show and remake old episodes that arent anywhere near as good lol (Lethal Weapon 7, The Gang Beats Boggs all female remake, The Gang Dines Out remake). I actually liked a lot of episodes from seasons 13 and 14 but also there were several that i hated and wont ever rewatch. That never used to happen with this show. Now so far through season 15 i havent even laughed once. This show is totally hit or miss now and it used to be every episode was a 10. I love this show and always will but if this doesnt get better im gonna have to admit maybe its time they officially retire this show after all.

Can you tell me what specific scenes are PC and woke about season 15? IASIP has been on the air for 15 seasons, and any show that long is gonna stretch itself thin. I think people are mixing up IASIP overindulgence in meta self awareness with PC woke culture.

To me it seems like they're now all famous as fuck. They don't really need the show since they all have been successful with other acting gigs. I think they enjoy doing the show. But I think it's run it's course. If you look at the writing it's not even them(rob, Glenn, Charlie) for the most part anymore. Rob has a credit for all of em but he probably just lets these new woke writers write it then kinda gives it pass or go ahead at the end. It's honestly kind of sad to see it go this way. Always been a huge fan of the show and it's just gotten really visibly woke. Which isn't the end of the world but woke people aren't fucking funny. Like at all. I've got a feeling they are kind of just holding on for us fans because they know we love it. And they probably make a mil or 2 in like 3 months of work. Win win for them. Anyways love the show in general but the last couple of season are fucking trash and unfortunately I think they know it.

Makes sense, I think it's been pretty weak for a while now, but this is just bottom of the barrel stuff. Was just rewatching earlier seasons with some friends and they loved it - this feels like a completely different show.

Omg - thank you!!! I am not alone! I've watched the first 3 episodes and am extremely disappointed!! The show has lost it's signature depravity and some of the jokes are just god awful. It's honestly cringe worthy. The throwback episode didn't make any sense - in past episodes it's been clearly implied the gang has always been a mess - but they made it out like they were normalish people. The writing feels awkward and forced. It honestly makes me want to cry, this used to be one of my all time favorite shows but now I don't even know if I can bring myself to watch it anymore. All the characters seem different and now somehow self- aware. I feel like the whole premise of the show was there was a group of people so dysfunctional they couldn't even see just how dysfunctional they were. I wish they had just stopped after last season.

I think the Gang is simply getting too old for the shenanigans we've grown to love. I didn't laugh at all when watching episodes 1 and 3. Sunny is finally getting "played out" :(

It was one hell of a run though.
